Kiosk is a work of public sculpture which is of utilitarian origin and suggests the hope of social function, even as it frustrates that hope. An upturned sales booth, built from plywood and finished with yacht varnish and turquoise gloss, it is sited in a square that is popular with skateboarders. At first glance features of the structure suggest themselves for physical interaction as potential ramps, ridges or jumps. Actual practice, however, excludes any such good-spirited, convivial gesture on the part of the artists as its smooth surfaces prove too narrow/high/short or slippery to usefully ride.
